Dr. Parvathy Viswanath

Dr Parvathy Viswanath is an Assitant Professor of Psychology at the Department of Liberal Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (DLHS), 必威体育betway888 Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Bengaluru. Her research lies at the intersection of educational psychology, social-emotional learning, and positive youth development. She worked as a Postdoctoral 必威体育betway888er on the international project "Development of Gratitude Across Cultures", funded by the John Templeton Foundation. The project is jointly led by Christ University (India) and the University of Virginia (USA) and explores cross-cultural development of gratitude in children from Western and Eastern contexts. This work has deepened her engagement with cross-cultural psychology, parental socialization and positive social development in children. She earned her PhD from Christ University, Bengaluru. Her PhD work focused on catalyzing social entrepreneurship as a tool for positive youth development. Her work has resulted in the development of two psychometric tools to measure opportunity recognition and career decision making processes in aspiring social entrepreneurs. Drawing on robust quantitative methodologies, including structural equation modeling, her research advances the measurement and understanding of student career motivations in social entrepreneurship. She completed her MSc in Psychology from Bengaluru City University, where she graduated as the second rank holder.?
